Level Designs

LostWoods_LevelDesign.jpeg

This is the layout for Lost in the Woods, a game that I designed and developed in a team of 3 for the 2024 Spooky 2D Jam. For this project, we wanted to create a maze game that would become scarier as the player progressed. To accomplish this goal, I decided to go with a simpler structure, that would allow the artist to freely customize the layout of each part of the game. I also included colored indicators to indicate where the player can progress in the game versus the parts that would cause them to get further lost, as well as the order in which order the sections are listed. This is the layout of Victorian London from Lamplighter, which I developed with a team of 7 for the 2023 Spooky 2D Jam. For this project, I based this layout on a real life neighborhood in London that is located around Big Ben. I then populated the design with major historical buildings that were around at the time, as well as other buildings that matched the time period. When the level was implemented in the game, we broke it up into two parts, the general ground floor and the buildings. This allowed us to place the buildings more freely while ensuring that collisions for each one were properly assigned. During my work on Romanus, I created layouts for several levels for the game, all of which were implemented. Each one covers a different part of the game, from the opening level to the final level, while weaving together a cohesive narrative of one man's quest to save his nation.
